Instant Oral Drug Testing

The United States Food & Drug Administration (“FDA”) has oversight of oral fluid Point-of-Collection Testing (“POCT”) products – also referred to as “instant” oral tests - that are used for workplace substance abuse testing programs. 

At this time, the FDA has not approved any instant oral fluid drug kits, and has recently sent cease and desist letters to all manufacturers selling such test kits due to accuracy and efficacy issues. Until such time that the FDA clears or approves an oral fluid POCT device, Universal Background Screening will not offer an oral fluid POCT product. Oral fluid testing will only be provided as a lab-based test. 

We recommend laboratory-based Oral Drug Testing and Instant Urine Drug Testing with laboratory confirmation as alternative solutions to employers for their workplace testing programs.
